Severe flash flooding and landslides have affected parts of Nepal, causing significant loss of life and widespread damage to communities, roads, bridges, essential services and communication infrastructure.

The situation remains fluid, and the full geographic extent and impact may continue to change. Search and rescue operations are underway, while flooding, landslides and infrastructure damage may cause significant disruption to transport and communications.

Travellers should not rely on this alert to identify every affected location. If you are in Nepal, monitor official local updates and Smartraveller, avoid flood-affected areas, riverbanks and low-lying areas, and follow the instructions of local authorities.
