Background
Ongoing armed conflict continues in Ukraine following Russia’s full-scale invasion on 24 February 2022. This includes the most recent offensive in June 2025, where Russian forces reportedly seized territory in Sumy Oblast, causing civilian casualties and damage to critical infrastructure. In late July 2025, missile and drone attacks on Kyiv led to further civilian deaths and disruption.

The Australian Government advises “Do Not Travel” to Ukraine and parts of Russia. Please refer to the latest updates on the Smartraveller website.
Important Policy Information
