Background
Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki has been erupting intermittently since late 2023, with major eruptions recorded in March, June, and again on 7 July 2025. The July eruption sent ash plumes over 18 km into the atmosphere, prompting the highest alert level, widespread evacuations, and significant air traffic disruptions. This marks one of the volcano’s most intense and prolonged periods of activity in recent years.
Travel Advisory
Travellers are strongly advised to monitor official travel warnings and local authorities’ instructions. Air travel to and within parts of Indonesia may continue to be affected.
